Responsible Play

Optional entertainment with clear boundaries, enforced limits, and real support.

18+ gaming only. The Lower Lounge is restricted to guests aged 18 and over. Gaming involves financial risk. Never wager more than you can afford to lose. Participation is entirely optional.

Our commitment

Northglass offers optional evening entertainment as one component of a broader hospitality experience — never as its centrepiece. We maintain rigorous responsible-play standards because guest wellbeing matters more than revenue from any single activity.

Age verification

Every guest entering the Lower Lounge must present valid government-issued photo identification. Staff are trained to verify documents carefully and will refuse entry to anyone who cannot provide acceptable ID, regardless of apparent age. Minors are not permitted anywhere in the gaming area, including as observers.

Voluntary limits

Before entering the Lower Lounge, guests may set personal limits at the guest services desk:

  • Deposit limits: Daily, weekly, or monthly caps on funds available for gaming
  • Time limits: Maximum session duration with automatic notification when the limit is reached
  • Loss limits: Threshold at which play is paused and staff offer a cooling-off period

Limits take effect immediately and cannot be increased during an active session. Decreases are honoured without delay.

Self-exclusion

Guests may request voluntary self-exclusion from the Lower Lounge for a chosen period:

  • 24-hour cooling off: Immediate exclusion with no questions asked
  • 30, 90, or 180 days: Fixed-term exclusion enforced property-wide
  • Permanent: Indefinite exclusion with a minimum one-year cooling-off period before any reconsideration

Self-exclusion requests are confidential and enforced at all entry points. Staff will not discuss exclusion status with other guests. To initiate self-exclusion, contact guest services with the subject line "Self-Exclusion Request" or speak with any manager on duty.

Staff intervention

All Lower Lounge staff receive training in responsible-play practices, including:

  • Recognising signs of distress, intoxication, or compulsive behaviour
  • Offering breaks, resources, and voluntary exclusion without judgment
  • Refusing service to guests who appear unable to make informed decisions
  • Escalating concerns to management and guest services when appropriate

Property design

Northglass deliberately separates gaming from accommodation, dining, and wellness. There are no gaming machines in lobbies, corridors, or guest rooms. ATMs are not located within the Lower Lounge. Cash advances at the main desk carry daily limits and require identification.

Support resources

If you or someone you know needs help with gambling-related concerns, the following resources are available:

  • National Problem Gambling Helpline: 1-800-522-4700 (24/7, confidential)
  • National Council on Problem Gambling: ncpgambling.org
  • Gamblers Anonymous: gamblersanonymous.org

Northglass guest services can also provide local referral information upon request.

Signs to watch for

Gaming should remain entertainment. Consider taking a break if you notice:

  • Spending more money or time than you intended
  • Chasing losses or increasing wagers to recover
  • Neglecting rest, dining, or other planned activities
  • Feeling anxious, irritable, or secretive about gaming activity
  • Borrowing money or using funds earmarked for other purposes
